Key Project Information

  • Downtown Revitalization
  • Design variance application
  • FDOT collaboration

Locklear & Associates staff designed and permitted through the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) the installation of decorative aluminum street lights within the FDOT right-of-way along the corridor of Macclenny Avenue (SR 90) between 6th and 2nd streets, along 6th Street and 5th Street (approximately 2,220 l.f.).

The downtown pedestrian street lighting project is a part of the City’s initiative to revitalize the downtown commercial areas. The decorative lighting enhances both the visual appeal Macclenny Downtown Historic Street Lighting Installation and physical infrastructure and encourages commercial growth that will assist and serve the surrounding residential communities.

In order to meet FDOT Design Criteria, Locklear & Associates prepared two separate Design Variation requests and supporting documentation in addition to the General Use Permit Application. The first design variance request was for not meeting the four (4) foot horizontal clearance requirement and the second was for not meeting the minimum mounting height requirements.
