Locklear & Associates is currently assisting Dixie County with the procurement of nearly $500,000 in grant funding from the United States Department of the Treasury. The grant is part of the Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act (known as the RESTORE ACT). The RESTORE Act was passed to provide financial support to local municipalities which were negatively impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill which occurred in 2010.
Locklear & Associates is assisting the County in preparation of the grant application and supporting information. The proposed project includes the development of a commercial fishing pier and a community park in Horseshoe Beach, Florida. The project goals are to increase local tourism as well as provide additional infrastructure for the commercial fishing and crabbing industries.
